Somerset Walks

When planning to visit a photography exhibition, most people would find a day and time, and go. For others, this is not as easy, they might question if the venue is wheelchair accessible, how much it costs, or how bright the lights are. These questions are often met with obstacles and they miss out.
Thanks to Covid-19, art has become more accessible, with many exhibitions being held online, however not all of these are easily navigated, and a lot of them have plain layouts. I have created an online exhibition that is fun, and easy to navigate.
The same questions are posed when one thinks of going for a walk in the countryside. A lot of beautiful places are inaccessible. My exhibition is based entirely on the areas of natural beauty around Somerset.
Throughout my childhood growing up in London, the countryside was not something I knew, as an adult living surrounded by national parks, I have found that there is nothing better than the feeling you get when you walk through the forest to be met with an opening, where you can see ahead of you for miles, and you can see how far you’ve come. I have conveyed these feelings in the images, which are all accompanied by a sound clip of my voice, thinking aloud my thoughts and feelings as I take the photograph.
My images are inspired by countless landscape photographers, especially those local to the area such as Stephen Spraggon and Michelle Cowbourne. They are inspired by love, wonder, and nostalgia.
