THE COBBLESTONES

Whilst I work out why I am unable to upload images into a gallery, but can into an album, please click the button below to view this project.

The pub is an essential part of British culture, with it being the first place many people visit once they turn 18, the legal drinking age of the UK. People visit the pub to wind down at the end of a day or week, to meet with friends, or to have a fun night out with friends. Many pubs are themed, surrounding the community that inhabits them.

The Cobblestones is known as a heavy metal bar, popular for its music, hosting events with bands such as Wheatus, The Wurzels and more. The community inside this pub has a lot of black leather jackets; patches and pins; local cider; craft nights; nerdy games days; and even gay pride events.

This project is photographing the people and events of this unique grade 2 listed pub in a social documentary piece, showcasing the vast differences of the regular punters, as well as the visiting bands, drag queens, and dancers. Created over the space of a month and a half, the time I have spent in the bar has given me a place to feel I belong, where everyone is friendly, and nobody is judgmental. Time moves fast whilst you’re sat amongst friends, and time surrounds this project, with every image being timestamped.
